Welcome to Efficiency in Coffee!

My name is Jay Kling. I am a coffee supply chain professional and Efficiency in Coffee is a consulting business and resource hub focused on creating efficiency in green coffee supply chains.

I believe that the global coffee industry as it exists is extractive by design. Coffee, spread around the world during the age of imperialism, is in a constant state of crisis. We have created a globalized system for producing a commodity at the lowest possible economic cost to the buyer. As a result, the global coffee industry is in a crisis state that is being rapidly compounded by climate change.

Each of us has a role to play in changing the coffee industry. I believe that my role is helping coffee roasters reduce costs in their coffee supply chains through smart and efficient buying.

The mission of Efficiency in Coffee is to help coffee roasters spend less money in the supply chain so they can spend more money paying coffee producers, the coffee professionals that work for them, and themselves.

I have a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in Supply Chain Management and Entrepreneurship, am an active CQI Q Arabica Grader, and have been the Director of Coffee for Irving Farm New York since 2019. Like so many other people, I love coffee. My goal with this business and my career in coffee is to be an advocate for coffee producers and use my skills to try to make coffee more sustainable.
